Daily struggle to regain his health
Hanifa Bin Hussein left Burma as a refugee for Malaysia. He was diagnosed with cancer while he was in a Malaysian refugee camp. The doctors there were unable to help him, so they sent the father of two children and his wife to the United States.
Catholic Charities has been assisting Hanifa and his family since their arrival. The family has settled in the San Diego area, where Hanifa continues to battle for his life.
His brother, also a refugee in Malaysia, represents his only hope for long-term survival.
Hanifa and his wife recently shared their experiences at a screening of a video that chronicles his struggle to regain his health to be able provide for his family in their new homeland.
